I Think I Know Best

I tend to think that I know what is best. I think I know what should happen and how it should happen and when it should happen. I don’t think I am alone in this type of thinking.

We tend to think we know what is best, we think we know how things, whatever things, should go, what should happen, how it should work out, BUT what if we decided to believe that how things are and how they work out is exactly how they are supposed to work out.

Why do I think I need to fix someone else’s relationship? Why do I think I need to interject my opinion? Why do I think I know what should happen? Why do I think I know how it is supposed to go?

How do we get to the point where we just accept whatever we receive?

How do we open ourselves up to receive whatever God gives?

TRUST.

Do I trust, do I really believe, that God is for me, that He loves me, that He is working all things together for my good?

If I truly believe in God’s goodness then I can rest in His provision. I can rest in His love. I can rest knowing He has/will take care of everything, and I can depend on Him. I can loosen my grip on how I think things are supposed to be and instead RECEIVE what is as His divine plan.

As humans we want to control and fix and make it happen, whatever it is. But God is gently reminding me to TRUST. To let go. To live open handed.

We tend to live life like, I thought it was going to be this way. It is not this way, and I’m kind of irritated about it. We tend to live with this entitlement that this is not how it’s supposed to be, we were supposed to get this or have that. But we are wrong having that thinking.

God knows best! He has our best interest! He loves us! He is for us! He is working for our good!

We must trust!!! We must receive what we have been given. We must realize there is a miracle and mystery to life that we will never understand. That’s FAITH!

We think we know but we don’t.

What if we decided to practice believing that what is, is exactly as it is supposed to be because THIS IS HOW IT IS!!!

What if we learn to receive what God has given? As good. As how our life is supposed to go.

One of my statements this year is, “I am trusting you, Lord Jesus, trusting only you.” And He is giving me opportunity after opportunity to put this statement into practice.

Let’s practice receiving what God gives us with gratitude. Let’s practice receiving what He gives trusting in His abundance to provide. Let’s practice receiving what He give with anticipation for what He’ll do next.

What can you practice trusting God with today? How can you practice living open handed?

Are you willing to be open to receive whatever God gives?

Keep seeking and discovering God’s goodness and grace!

I will be taking a break from writing in the month of May.

Thanks for the reminder Steph. Good stuff. The only other thought I have on this is how hard should we work at making something happen before we assume that God has something else in mind!
