I am currently re-reading and leading a weekly book discussion on Winning the War in Your Mind by Craig Groeschel.
I have been working on my mind-management consistently for about 5 years. I didn’t know that’s what I was doing at first. I didn’t set out to change my thinking. I just knew there had to be a better way to live and I was determined to figure it out. I had experienced God do a transforming work in my life before and I have desperately sought Him in faith for healing/restoration/wholeness again. And I am extremely thankful for all He has shown me! I am thankful for how He has helped me and provided godly wise counsel. I am thankful that as I have sought after Him, I have discovered His goodness and grace and love in real and tangible ways.
My prayer for you today is that you are relying on God’s strength, His Holy Spirit in you, to help you as you process your thinking and win the war in your mind in whatever you are facing.
Our thoughts are powerful. What we think determines how we feel. From our feelings we act. Our actions determine the results of our lives.
If we want to change our lives, we must change our thinking!
Here are a few things I would like to remind you of on this journey of discovering a better Way.
First, be kind to yourself!!! You are a student of life! God reveals things to you in His perfect timing. We don’t know until God shows us! And God shows us when we are supposed to know. This is a process. Ask God for help. Take it slow. Pay attention to your thoughts. Practice awareness. Don’t feel like you have to rush through or get to some finish line. Walk step by step with God in whatever timing is right for the two of you. Keep practicing!
Second, I encourage you to do the hard work. Be brave! Keep moving forward! Remember God is with you! Don’t be afraid to uncover the lies! Keep seeking Truth! You will discover Peace and Love and Freedom and Security and Life to the fullest as you implant the Word of God in your mind, build the substance, and your work and God’s work in you will expand your capacity to feel and know and live well in all things! You activate His miracle in your life! Amen.
Third, keep looking at your path. We are often tempted to look to our left or to our right at what is happening, or what we perceive to be happening, in someone else’s life. Let’s stay focused on ourselves. We are only responsible for ourselves, and we can only change ourselves.
You’ve got this and God’s got you!
Also, something that has helped me over the years is reading a daily devotional each morning, to remind me of His love for me and give me some godly perspective to start my day. I usually read the same devotional a couple of years in a row so that I really absorb it and take it to heart and apply it to my life. I am currently in my second year through You are the Beloved by Henri Nouwen. Some other daily devotionals I have used over the years include, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, and Savor by Shauna Niequist.
Keep seeking and discovering!
Reminds me of a statement in a study I’m doing… We need to stare at God and glance at the world instead of vice versa.
