Each morning I read from You are the Beloved Daily Meditations for Spiritual Living by Henri Nouwen.

Today’s said, “You have to keep unmasking the world about you for what it is: manipulative, controlling, power-hungry, and, in the long run, destructive. The world tells you many lies about who you are, and you simply have to be realistic enough to remind yourself of this. Every time you feel hurt, offended, or rejected, you have to dare to say to yourself: ‘These feelings, strong as they may be, are not telling the truth about myself. The truth, even though I cannot feel it right now, is that I am the chosen child of God, precious in God’s eyes, called the Beloved from all eternity, and held safe in an everlasting embrace.’” – Life of the Beloved

We must claim God’s TRUTH as our own and believe that it is true for us! This is where freedom is found, resting in His LOVE, in who He says we are!

We must be intentional about fighting against the lies of this world. I have mantras that I say to myself that help me to remember when I am feeling doubtful, uncertain, overwhelmed, rejected, or insecure. “I am a child of God. I am loved by The King. I am filled with the Holy Spirit. I am filled with Grace and Power.” We have more power than we realize. The power to control our thoughts. We can take our thoughts captive and we can renew our minds on His Truth as His Word instructs us to do. Moment by moment. As many times as we need to. Day by day. We must practice believing it is true about us until we believe it.

You are a child of God!

You are loved by The King!

You are filled with the Holy Spirit!

You are filled with Grace and Power!
