Purpose.

Our purpose is not about what we do but about who we are.

We choose what we do and hopefully we are loving, kind, gracious, secure, doing it and therefore glorify God.

God has filled each of us with purpose, giftedness, talents. As we spend time with Him, reading His word, sitting in His presence, listening to His leading, we use what He put in us and calls forth out of us to love the people in our lives, share His light with others, and bring Him glory.

We use our skills, we do the things we like to do, the things we are good at, for the service of others and out of love and appreciation for God’s love for us.

We know our worth and value are in Jesus Christ who loves us completely, we are rooted and grounded in Him, therefore we can show up in love, with kindness and grace, no matter what we are doing.

We learn to rely on the Holy Spirit inside us who provides our strength, who equips, enables, and empowers us in all areas of our lives. It’s a grand adventure of trust! An ever-unfolding story!

We tend to think our purpose is about doing something grand, like it must be some big thing, or we must be productive, accomplish something.

What if our purpose is to “be” something more than it is to “do” something.

What if we decide what kind of person we want to be and then live it out in whatever we do.

For example, if I want to be a loving wife and mother, and I want to show up with grace and love for my family, I make that decision then I make choices that help me stay in the right head space to make that happen. I make sure I am getting the sleep I need and eating well so that I am healthy physically. I spend time with God, practicing awareness of Him through prayer and scripture reading, and meditation. I choose to take care of me so I can take care of my husband and sons well. And thus, live out my purpose of loving God and loving others.

I choose to be rooted and grounded in Christ knowing my worth and value are in Him not in anything I do. And knowing I am loved by Him regardless of my performance. Then I can show up in love and offer my best and not have expectation or be in judgement of myself or others. This is an on-going practice. I choose to believe the best about myself and others.

I choose to practice being the kind of person who loves, is gracious, offers kindness to the best of my ability in whatever situation I am in and whatever I am doing.

Keep seeking and discovering and living into God’s Truth about you!
