It might just be me, my problem/struggle, but I think maybe I am not alone.
We tend to beat ourselves up for mistakes no matter how big or small.
We tend to ruminate on the thing we said wrong, the thing we forgot to do, the situation we responded poorly towards.
As I’ve thought about it, if someone else was watching our life, they may say to us, “yes, you could have reacted better, or used better tone in that conversation, or remembered to do whatever BUT you are overlooking how great you did at this, how well you responded here, how much you accomplished there, how helpful you were to so-n-so.”
Why do we focus on the negatives and miss all the positives?
Let’s practice recognizing and celebrating the good we do, all the things we get right. Not to be prideful or conceited but to be self-compassionate and confident and joyful.
Let’s stop wasting time and energy on the past or in the negatives.
When we make a mistake let’s ask forgiveness, make amends, learn, and move on.
Let’s spend our energy on the good, the positives, building into being our best self.
And. Let’s practice recognizing when other people do something good, get it right, are helpful, and let them know we see them and appreciate them.
