We tend to think that if some external thing were different in our lives then we’d be “better.”
“If only I had that” or “if I was in that situation, I’d be happier,” or “if I could just _________ I would be more successful.” We tend to think if I lived there or had that job, or once I get married or if I was married to someone else, or once I have children, or if I got that promotion.
I have learned it is more about who we are. Our internal life, not our external one that makes the difference.
We choose to BE the person who.
Someone recently said to me, “We BE, then we DO, then we HAVE.”
It’s an inside job, not an outside one. We do the work internally to be our best selves and we experience our external things differently.
We tend to think that if we had, then we would do and be, but it actually works the other way.
We are responsible for ourselves. Responsible for the decisions we make, the actions we take, the words we say, all our choices. Not anyone else. No one makes us do something. No one makes us feel anything other than what we choose to feel based on our thoughts! We choose to think a thought about what someone else says which leads to our feelings about what they said. We can choose to make what they said mean whatever we want by how we choose to think about it.
No matter what someone else says or does we are responsible for US! Our choices.
Our thoughts are powerful! Choose your thoughts wisely!
Ask yourself, is this thought serving me, is it helping me to live the life I want to live?
Speak Truth over your life. Pray the scriptures for yourself. Discover His goodness!
God, I ask that You give me spiritual wisdom and insight so that I might grow in my knowledge of You. Flood my heart with Light so that I can understand the confident hope You give. Help to understand the incredible greatness of Your power available to me. I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower me with inner strength through Your Holy Spirit. God, make Your home in my heart as I trust in You. May my roots grow deep into Your love and keep me strong. Give me the power to understand how wide, how long, and how deep Your love is. May I experience Your love though it is too great to understand fully. Make me complete with all the fullness of life and the power that comes from You. All glory to You, who is able, through Your mighty power at work in me, to accomplish infinitely more that I might ask or think. Glory to You in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 1:16-19, 3:16-21 NLT
